Sample taken from Step-by-Step Stories, Stories 1-9 (red book)
Below is a sample of a story from the red book. The same story is found in the manual (purple book) but all on one page with fewer illustrations. Since some people see white on black easier that black on white, black boxes are often used in the first nine stories as a way to help these types of learners.
Note: Silent letters are marked in purple and numbers are above letters indicating which sound is being made (i.e. a 2 over the s in the word "is" indicating the s is "saying" its second sound not its first).
-Illustrated by Rebecca Carpenter.
